The box office receipts for Captain America: The Brave New World. Day 1: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever marked the end of phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, paving the way for an intriguing lineup of superheroes to make a big-screen comeback. Ant-Man and the Wasp, or Quantumania, marked the beginning of phase five, and Thunderbolts*, which is slated to premiere on May 2, will mark its conclusion. However, both critics and viewers have given Captain America: The Brave New World, the penultimate movie of this period and Anthony Mackie’s debut solo picture as the new Captain America, the benefit of the doubt. Actually, industrial tracker Sacnilk reports that the Julius Onah-directed film did well enough that it brought in Rs 4.3 crore on its first day at the Indian box office.

Starring Harrison Ford as the titular Red Hulk, the movie had a fairly lackluster beginning. After The Marvels, Brave New World has the second-lowest opening day statistics in India, which is a true reflection of the film’s dismal reception. Films like Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, Deadpool and Wolverine, and Quantumania, on the other hand, earned Rs 21 crore, Rs 7.3 crore, and Rs 8.4 crore, respectively. The first day’s earnings for the Marvels were merely Rs 2.5 crore.

The failure of the rebooted Captain America, one of the most beloved MCU characters ever, to gain support in India was equally disheartening. The IMAX version scored 48.79% occupancy nationwide, which was significantly higher than the English version’s 19.75% (3D) and 13.78% (2D) occupancy rates. Additionally, the movie was released in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi.  In the Hindi marketplace, especially was overtaken by the Chhaava mania, it faced fierce competition. The movie made Rs 1.5 crore with only 11.72% occupancy for its 3D version and a far higher performance in the few IMAX and 4DX screenings. The Tamil version earned Rs 20 lakhs and Rs 35 lakhs with an attendance rate of 19.05% (3D) and 11.11 percent (2D), while the Telugu version debuted to 16.91% (3D) and 15.66% (2D).

Excluding the previews, Captain America: Brave New World debuted at a box office total of about $40 million worldwide and is predicted to earn nearly $100 million on its first weekend.

“Mackie is competent and pleasant for having around, however he is no Chris Evans, although his charisma could lift this material,” Shalini Langer stated in SCREEN’s review of the movie. Wilson and Evans’s Steve Rogers have their place, as explained by their old Rogers friend Buck (Stan Sebastian), who appears to say, “Rogers gave people someone to have faith in, you provide them with something to aspire to.”
