SC to take up Ranveer Allahbadia’s case on February 21

Ranveer Allahbadia

Allahbadia had called for an expedited hearing of the matter before the Chief Justice of India (CJI) on Friday. The proceeding has been provisionally scheduled for February 21 in response to this request.

In relation to the India’s Got Talent scandal, social media personality Ranveer Allahbadia filed a case, which is anticipated to be heard by the country’s highest court on February 21. The motion requests judicial intervention against several FIRs that have been filed against him, per the computer-generated listing provided by the court.

The Central Government and the governments of Maharashtra and Assam have been nominated as defendants in the petition by Allahbadia, the creator of the well-known YouTube channel BeerBiceps. Representing Allahbadia, attorney Abhinav Chandrachud asked the court to combine the several FIRs filed in the case.

The court case gets more intense

When Allahbadia appeared on comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Talent, he purportedly made offensive remarks, which sparked the incident. After a public uproar, the Assam Police and Maharashtra Cyber Police filed formal complaints against Allahbadia, Raina, influencer Apoorva Mukhija, content producer Ashish Chanchlani, among others.

There was also a fear of arrest, Chandrachud told the judge, especially when Assam Police started legal action against Allahbadia. Sanjiv Khanna, the Chief Justice of India, stated that the court is not allowing oral remarks for important lists but did not elaborate on the issue.

Investigation and police citation

Allahbadia did not show up before Mumbai Police on Friday in relation to the matter, even though he was summoned twice. He failed to show up at the Khar police station, where he was supposed to be. According to an investigating police officer, his team promised officials that he would come up, but when he failed to show up, authorities went to his Versova home, only to discover it locked. A notice telling him to come before the law enforcement as soon as possible has been posted at his residence.

Nearly 59 people, including judges, contestants, and other people connected to the contentious India’s Got Talent episodes where “foul language” was purportedly used, have also been called by the Maharashtra Cyber Police. Only Raghu Ram, the host of a reality program, has answered the call thus far.

Apologise and remove the show.

Through a social media video, Allahbadia apologized publicly in reaction to the criticism. Samay Raina, meanwhile, promised complete cooperation with authorities and declared that all of India’s Got Latent’s episodes had been taken down from YouTube. Raina, who is now in the US, will return to India by February 17 to participate in the investigation, according to confirmation from his legal team.

The spotlights are on the court procedures and the possible repercussions for the accused influencers as the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the issue next week.
